Short version: there are no accounts, your invoices stay on your device, and the only thing that leaves it is the text you type, so it can be read.

What stays on your device

Your invoices, business details, logos and payment instructions are stored in your browser (its local storage) on the device you use. We do not have a copy and cannot see them. There is no account to sign in to. Clearing your browser's site data removes them, so use the backup option under “Your data” to keep a copy.

What is sent off your device

Your invoice is read on your device, by code, as you type. Most of the time that is all that happens and nothing is sent. When the code cannot read a sentence with confidence (for example it finds no client, or no price for an item), the text of that sentence is sent to our server, which passes it to an AI service to tidy: punctuation, sentence breaks and spelling. The tidied sentence comes back and is read by the same code. That text can contain names, addresses and amounts. The AI service never does the maths and its answer is rejected if it changes any number, currency, percentage or date. Depending on how this site is set up, the AI service is OpenAI (which tidies the sentence) or TypeSafe (which labels which part of a sentence is a client, a line item, a date and so on).

Our server does not save that text to a database and does not write it to logs; the logs record only counts and timings. To answer repeat requests faster it keeps the answers for recently seen sentences in memory, and they are gone when the server restarts. We ask OpenAI not to store the request. What each service does with text it receives is governed by that service's own terms.

To stop the service being overloaded or abused, the server briefly counts requests per visitor. It does this with your network address run through a one-way scrambler, so the counters hold neither your address nor anything that can be turned back into it, and the counts expire within a day.

If you would rather not send anything, avoid typing real names and amounts, or tell us that you want an offline-only mode.

If you sign in to sync your devices

Signing in is optional. If you choose it, you give your email address and we send you a code; there is no password. From then on your invoices (including the text you typed and the names and amounts in them), your clients, your business details and your logos are also stored in our database, linked to your email, so they appear on your other devices. Each person can read only their own rows; we do not look at your invoices, and we do not sell or share them.

Syncing is off until you sign in, and you can sign out any time (your invoices stay on that device). In the sync window, "Delete my cloud copy" removes everything we hold for you; to delete your account and sign-in record as well, email us.

Feedback and the waiting list

If you send feedback or join the waiting list, we save what you type in the form, with your email if you give one, so we can read it and reply. Feedback can include the invoice text you typed, but only if you leave that box ticked. You can ask us to delete anything you sent.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for your name or email to use the tool, and we do not use advertising trackers or cookies. We count a few anonymous actions, such as that an invoice was sent, so we know what is being used. These counts hold no text you wrote, no names and no amounts, and are not tied to you.

If you use the microphone

The microphone button on computers uses your browser's own speech recognition. The audio is sent by your browser to its speech service (for example Google in Chrome, Microsoft in Edge, Apple in Safari) to be turned into text. We never receive the audio, and we do not record it. The text it produces is treated exactly like text you type. On phones, use the microphone on your keyboard instead, which is handled by your phone. You can always type instead.

Sending an invoice

When you send an invoice by email or WhatsApp, it goes from your own account or device. The PDF is made in your browser. We do not send it for you and do not see who you send it to.

Your choices

You can download everything or a spreadsheet at any time, and you can delete it all by clearing this site's data in your browser. There is nothing else to delete, because there is nothing else stored.
